An RF antenna converts electric energy into radio waves, allowing communication and instruction between two points. A radio transmitter and receiver are typically used; no radio device will function without one. RF antennas can be as simple as a piece of wire depending on the application.
Radio and television broadcasts, handheld transceivers, cell phones, radar systems, satellite communications, Wi-Fi networks, and remote controls all make use of RF antennas.
The RF signal power output by the wireless device is transmitted to the antenna through the feeder (cable), and the antenna radiates out in the form of electromagnetic wave. The same antenna can be used as both transmitting antenna and receiving antenna. The basic characteristic parameters of the same antenna as transmitting or receiving are the same.
